Welcome to my blog!
Thank you for visiting my blog and I hope that you find my new website helpful. I’m delighted to be able to engage with the on-line community to get an understanding of the issues that affect you as the campaign for the general election gets under way. I’m meeting hundreds of people every week on the doorstep and I’m struck by the numbers of people, young and old, who tell me that they regularly log on to the web. The 2007 general election will be the first election in Ireland to see e-democracy in action and I look forward to using this medium to share with you the highs and the lows as the campaign progresses. Stay tuned!

Great to see this new website, lets hope people use it to discuss the issues as they see them.

This is one of the best political websites that I have seen. It compares very well to the web sites of high powered US politicians such as Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. Congratulations!

At last - an online way for people to debate the issues that concern them. Fair play to Áine Brady for putting this service in place. I think that this service should be promoted more. I think I’ll send a few emails to friends on this.

Welcome to cyberspace. I personally find the Interwebulator a valuable tool in linking in to relevant information. You will find the interactive nature means that waffle tends to get exposed pretty quickly, so I’m not confident that this comment facility will be left open that long.
Anyway, as you know transport is one issue of interest to people and Platform 11 are a well respected lobby for rail transport with a strong online presence. They have a space for discussion of what candidates say about transport. I’m afraid you didn’t come out of it too well, as the stuff you came out with about the new Clonsilla – Docklands rail service magically linking ‘North Kildare’ to the centre city was regarded as hyperbole. I don’t think the voters were fooled either.

I got a leaflet through the door outlining the lottery funding given out to organisations in North Kildare since 2003. From what I can see, Clane got nothing. I live in Clane and I think that this is disgraceful! We have one of the fastest growing towns in North Kildare - 36% between 2002 and 2006, there’s a huge explosion in the youth population - our local schools are full and in need of expansion and we have sweet f$%& all investment in facilities for the kids! No playgrounds, youth projects, youth centre, etc. and all the other facilities that are necessary for young people. The last bit of serious funding to Clane came just before Charlie McCreevy was shifted (shafted) out to Brussels. From what I can see unless an area has strong representation in the government or local council, you get nothing. Aine Brady is the only candidate from the Clane area running for the Dail who, if elected, is likely to be in power - assuming that FF form the next government with some other party. I’m thinking strongly of voting for her on those grounds alone - sorry for the rant, but it needed to be said!
